찬송가112 그 맑고 환한 밤중에 It came upon the midnight clear(성탄)

누가복음 2:13
13. 홀연히 수많은 천군이 그 천사들과 함께 하나님을 찬송하여 이르되

 

1 그 맑고 환한 밤 중에 뭇 천사 내려와

그 손에 비파 들고서 다 찬송 하기를

평강의 왕이 오시니 다 평안 하여라

그 소란하던 세상이 다 고요 하도다

 

2 뭇 천사 날개 펴고서 이 땅에 내려 와

그 때에 부른 노래가 또 다시 들리니

이 슬픔 많은 세상에 큰 위로 넘치고

온 세상 기뻐 뛰놀며 다 찬송 하도다

 

3 이 괴롬 많은 세상에 짐 지고 가는 자

그 험산 준령 넘느라 온 몸이 곤하나

이 죄악 세상 살 동안 새 소망 가지고

저 천사 기쁜 찬송을 들으며 쉬어라

 

4 옛 선지 예언 응하여 베들레헴 성에

주 예수 탄생하시니 온 세상 구주라

저 천사 기쁜 노래를 또 다시 부르니

온 세상 사는 사람들 다 화답 하도다

 

13. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

1 It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old,

From angels bending near the earth, To touch their harps of gold;

"Peace on the earth, good will to men, From heaven's all gracious King."

The world in solemn stillness lay To hear the angels sing.

 

2 Still thro' the cloven skies they come, With peaceful wings unfurled,

And still their heavenly music floats O'er all the weary world;

Above its sad and lowly plains They bend on hovering wing,

And ever o'er its Babel sounds The blessed angels sing.

 

3 And ye, beneath life's crushing load, Whose forms are bending low,

Who toil along the climbing way, With painful steps and slow,

Look now! for glad and golden hours Come swiftly on the wing;

O rest beside the weary road, And hear the angels sing.

 

4 For lo, the days are hastening on, By prophet bards foretold,

When, with the ever circling years, Comes round the age of gold;

When peace shall over all the earth Its ancient splendors fling,

And the whole world give back the song Which now the angels sing.
