찬송가143 웬말인가 날 위하여 Alas! and did my Saviour bleed

 

 

누가복음 23:46
46. 예수께서 큰 소리로 불러 이르시되 아버지 내 영혼을 아버지 손에 부탁하나이다 하고 이 말씀을 하신 후 숨지시니라

 

1 웬말인가 날 위하여 주 돌아가셨나

이 벌레 같은 날 위해 큰 해 받으셨나

 

2 내 지은 죄 다 지시고 못 박히셨으니

웬일인가 웬 그 은혠가 그 사랑 크셔라

 

3 주 십자가 대할 때에 그 일이 고마워

그 밝은 빛 가리워서 캄캄케 되었네

 

4 나 십자가 대할 때에 그 일이 고마워

내 얼굴 감히 못 들고 눈물 흘리도다

 

5 늘 울어도 눈물로써 못 갚을 줄 알아

몸 밖에 드릴 것 없어 이 몸 바칩니다

46. And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

1 Alas! and did my Saviour bleed, And did my Sovereign die?

Would He devote that sacred head For such a worm as I?

 

2 Was it for crimes that I have done, He suffered on the tree?

Amazing pity! grace unknown! And love beyond degree!

 

3 Well might the sun in darkness hide, And shut His glories in,

When Christ, the mighty Maker, died For man, the creature's sin.

 

4 Thus might I hide my blushing face While His dear cross appears;

Dissolve my heart in thankfulness, And melt mine eyes to tears.

 

5 But drops of grief can ne'er repay The debt of love I owe!

Here, Lord, I give myself away; 'Tis all that I can do.
