찬송가586 어느 민족 누구게나 Once to every man and nation

여호수아 24:15
15. 만일 여호와를 섬기는 것이 너희에게 좋지 않게 보이거든 너희 조상들이 강 저쪽에서 섬기던 신들이든지 또는 너희가 거주하는 땅에 있는 아모리 족속의 신들이든지 너희가 섬길 자를 오늘 택하라 오직 나와 내 집은 여호와를 섬기겠노라 하니

 

1 어느 민족 누구게나 결단할 때 있나니

참과 거짓 싸울 때에 어느 편에 설건가

주가 주신 새 목표가 우리 앞에 보이니

빛과 어둠 사이에서 선택하며 살리라

 

2 고상하고 아름답다 진리 편에 서는 일

진리 위해 억압 받고 명예 이익 잃어도

비겁한 자 물러서나 용감한 자 굳세게

낙심한 자 돌아오는 그 날까지 서리라

 

3 순교자의 빛을 따라 주의 뒤를 좇아서

십자가를 등에 지고 앞만 향해 가리라

새 시대는 새 사명을 우리에게 주나니

진리 따라 사는 자는 전진하리 언제나

 

4 악이 비록 성하여도 진리 더욱 강하다

진리 따라 살아갈 때 어려움도 당하리

우리 가는 그 앞 길에 어둔 장막 덮쳐도

하나님이 함께 계셔 항상 지켜 주시리

15. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

1 Once to ev'ry man and notion 

Comes the moment to decide,

In the strife of truth with falsehood,

For the good or evil side;

Some great cause, some new decision,

Off'ring each the bloom or blight,

And the choive goes by forever

'Twixt that darkness and that light.

 

2 Then to side with truth is noble,

When we share her wretched crust,

Ere her cause bring fame and profit,

And 'tis prosperous to be just;

Then it is the brave man shooses,

While the coward stands aside,

Till the multitude make virtue

Of the faith they had denied.

 

3 By the light of burning martyrs,

Jesus' bleeding feet we track,

Toiling up new Calvaries ever 

With the cross that turns not back;

New occasions teach new duties,

Time makes ancient good uncouth;

They must upward still and onward,

Who would keep abreast of truth.

 

4 Though the cause of evil prosper,

Yet 'tis truth alone is strong;

Though her portion be the scaffold,

And upon the throne be wrong,

Yet that scaffold sways the future,

And behind the dim unknown,

Standeth God within the shadow

Keeping waich above His own.
