찬송가373 고요한 바다로 If, on a quiet sea

마태복음 8:26
26. 예수께서 이르시되 어찌하여 무서워하느냐 믿음이 작은 자들아 하시고 곧 일어나사 바람과 바다를 꾸짖으시니 아주 잔잔하게 되거늘

 

1 고요한 바다로 저 천국 향할 때

주 내게 순풍 주시니 참 감사합니다

 

2 큰 물결 일어나 나 쉬지 못하나

이 풍랑으로 인하여 더 빨리 갑니다

 

3 내 걱정 근심을 쉬 없게 하시고

내 주여 어둔 영혼을 곧 밝게 하소서

 

4 이 세상 고락간 주 뜻을 본받고

내 몸이 의지 없을 때 큰 믿음 주소서

26. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

 

1 If, on a quiet sea, Toward heaven we calmly sail

With grateful hearts, O God, to Thee, We'll own the favoring gale.

 

2 But should the surges rise, And rest delay to come,

Blest be the tempest,  kind the storm, Which drives us nearer home.

 

3 Soon shall our doubts and fears All yield to Thy control;

Thy tender mercies shall illume The midnight of the soul.

 

4 Teach us, in every state, To make Thy will our own;

And when the joys of sense depart, To live by faith alone.
